south florida garbage man dies
August 17, 2012A garbage collector died this afternoon in Loxahatchee after he fell under a truck that was sliding into a ditch.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched at 12:49 p.m. to 91st Place North, near the intersection of Seminole Pratt Whitney and Northlake Boulevard.
According to sheriff’s deputies at the scene, the driver of the truck was heading east on 91st Place when, as he began to approach a house, his truck started sliding into a ditch. Trying to right the truck, the driver reacted by jerking the wheel, apparently causing the truck to roll over. One of the crew’s workers on the back of the truck fell and the truck landed on the lower half of his body.
The person, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck is owned by Waste Pro management.
As of 2:30p.m., the body was still at the scene and the truck had not been towed.
